Knots and Leaders

March 12 Knots and Leaders

There are more questions about leaders than almost anything else in fly fishing: Do I need a tapered leader? How long? What size tippet do I need (and what is tippet?) Does my brand new leader come with a tippet? What's this "X" business all about?? Your choice of leader can destroy your fishing accuracy, tangle, break, and make your day frustrating.

Come find out the answers to these and more questions, including which knots you need to know.

Join us for an informative evening and learn how you can be ready for any type of fly-fishing technique

as dictated by the water and conditions.

Location:  Note location change: Turner Valley, AB

Time:   7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Cost:   $25.00 gst included

To Register or for questions, send us an email.

ps.  Lynda has an easy way to tie on your fly.  Hmm I would have liked to have known about this 30 years ago.

Stream Sense - an evening with Jim McLennan

Stream Sense - an evening with Jim McLennan Thursday, March 26

Postponed:  We will let you know when we rebook.

Thanks for your understanding.

An intimate evening with Jim McLennan

Join Jim for an evening talking fly-fishing.

What is Stream Sense? It's a combination of actions, reactions and observations

that will help you find and fool more fish.

It's knowing how to do things correctly, when to change what you

are doing, and how not to screw things up too badly.

A lot of these are "little things" that can make a big difference; things

we don't think about or don't pay attention to enough. There will be some

important topics we don't often get the chance to discuss on the river. This is an evening of questions, answers, and discussion about a myriad of fly-fishing topics, including fish behaviour, the importance of water temperature, when to change flies, how to approach water, common mistakes, 12 favourite flies, and whatever else comes up. Registrants can submit questions and topics prior to the evening. It will be a fun session that can improve your understanding of

what it means to fly fish.

Jim will have a plan but hopes that attendees will help him deviate from it with their thoughts and questions. It's a great chance to pick his brain and gain some insight from his 50-plus years of waving a fly rod around in Alberta.

Location:  Note location change: Turner Valley, AB         Time:   7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Cost:  $25.00 gst included

Send us an email to register and add Stream Sense in the subject.
