New for 2019:    Thursday Evening Sessions

We are bringing back our evening sessions by request. The 4 evening sessions equal 8 hours of instruction, similar to an introductory fly fishing school. You can take all 4 sessions or only the ones that interest you most.

Mar. 21    The Mysteries of Fly Fishing Equipment and Reading Water.

What equipment is essential, and what is optional?  Where do those silly trout live and why?

Mar. 28    Trout Food and Understanding Your Fly Box. Choosing the right fly by learning about
                 what trout like to eat.

Apr. 4       Connecting:  Knots, leaders, tippet, setting up your tackle and Fishing Techniques

Learn the two essential knots (that's right, just two.) and learn to understand the
                 mysterious "X-factor"

Other equipment.  What's nice to have and what we really need.

Apr. 18     Fly-Casting:  beginners to advanced.  Outdoors, rod in hand, learn the fundamentals
(and the fine points) of operating fly fishing's "magic wand."

Location:  Okotoks Firehall on Milligan Dr.       Time:  7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The casting session will be in a local Okotoks park.     Time:  6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Cost:     $100.00 + gst for all 4 sessions or $25.00 per session.

Stream Sense - an evening with Jim McLennan

May 9,  2019

An intimate evening with Jim McLennan

Join Jim for an evening talking fly-fishing.

What is stream sense?

It's a combination of actions, reactions and observations

that will help you find and fool more fish.

It's knowing how to do things correctly, when to change what you

are doing, and how not to screw things up too badly.

A lot of these things are "little things" that can make a big difference; things

we don't think about or don't pay attention to enough. There will be some

important things we don't often get the chance to discuss on the river.

Our hope is that it will fill in some of the "missing pieces" in your fly fishing journey.

This is a different type of evening and it was a great success last year.

Jim will have a plan but hopes that attendees will help him deviate from it with their thoughts and questions. It's a great chance to pick his brain and gain some insight from his 50-plus years of waving a fly rod around in Alberta.

Location:  Okotoks Fire Hall Station 1 on Milligan Drive          Time:   7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Cost:  $25.00 gst included

Send us an email to register and add Stream Sense in the subject.

Free Casting Clinic

Beginners will received a full 2 hour lesson.

Novice to advanced fishers will be able to pick up some new techniques, fine tune their casting and ask that question that has been an
annoying issue on the river.

Date: April 28

2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Location: Black Diamond, AB - local park

Equipment supplied if needed.

To register send us an email.

Many thanks to all who came last year and supported the day.
